Due to Vaikuntha Ekadashi and consecutive New Year holidays, the crowd of devotees in Tirumala has increased unexpectedly. Thousands of common devotees are arriving in Tirumala for Vaikuntha Dwara Darshanam. Especially with Sarva Darshanam (token-less darshan) set to resume from January 2, a large number of devotees arriving in advance has led to a massive surge in crowd.
Along with common devotees, VIPs are also arriving in large numbers to have darshan of Lord Venkateswara, the deity of Kaliyuga Vaikuntham.
In this context, police have undertaken strict security measures. With devotees exceeding TTD officials' estimates, pilgrims are being systematically allowed from queue lines set up at the Outer Ring Road into inner queue lines. TTD has made special arrangements to manage the crowd. Officials stated that drinking water, food, and security arrangements have been strengthened to avoid any inconvenience to devotees.
Continuous monitoring in queue lines is ongoing, with measures taken to ensure smooth movement of devotees. TTD officials said there is a possibility of further increase in crowd over the coming days due to Vaikuntha Dwara Darshanam and the start of Sarva Darshanam. They advised devotees visiting for Srivari darshan to exercise patience and cooperate by following TTD officials' instructions. Due to the heavy influx of devotees, there is some delay in Srivari darshan, TTD officials noted.
