Reconstruction works at Medaram have reached a crucial phase with the commencement of the reinstallation of the pedestals of folk deities Pagididda Raju and Govinda Raju. Priests are performing the rituals discreetly, strictly following tribal traditions.
The rituals are scheduled to continue until this afternoon. In view of the reinstallation ceremony, darshan of the forest deities has been temporarily suspended for devotees. Priests have appealed to pilgrims and visitors to cooperate to ensure the smooth completion of these historic rituals.
Meanwhile, the Medaram Maha Jathara will be held from January 28 to 31 next year. Recognized as Asia’s largest tribal festival, the state government is making extensive arrangements to organize the event on a grand scale. With an allocation of ₹251 crore for permanent development works, reconstruction activities are progressing rapidly. Telangana ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Seethakka recently inspected the works and reviewed the progress.
