

The Congress party is set to launch a 45 - day nationwide agitation demanding the restoration of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and the withdrawal of the new VB GRAMJI Act introduced by the central government. Under the banner of "MGNREGA Bachao Sangram," the protests will run from the 10th of this month to the 25th of the next month, as announced by party general secretaries KC Venugopal and Jairam Ramesh during a press conference in Delhi on Saturday.
On the 10th, district-level press conferences will be held followed by day - long hunger strikes. Protests will take place at district headquarters on the 11th, while from the 12th to the 29th, panchayat-level meetings and door - to - door awareness campaigns will be conducted in all villages. Peaceful dharnas at the ward level are planned for the 30th.
From February 7 to 15, state-level gheraos will be organized at legislative assemblies, and four major rallies will be held from February 16 to 25. The agitation aims to protect MGNREGA and oppose the central government's new legislation.
