It is known that five people lost their lives in the plane crash involving an aircraft in which Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had traveled earlier. Among the crew operating the Learjet 45 was woman pilot Shambhavi Pathak. The aircraft was under the command of senior Captain Sumit Kapoor, who served as the Pilot-in-Command. All critical decisions related to the flight, including takeoff and landing, were made under his supervision. VSR Aviation stated that Captain Kapoor has extensive experience in operating business jets and that the Learjet has a strong safety record.
Woman pilot Shambhavi Pathak served as the First Officer (Co-Pilot) on this flight. She assisted the Captain by managing flight instruments and maintaining continuous communication with Air Traffic Control (ATC). Shambhavi received her education at the Air Force School in Gwalior and completed her pilot training between 2016 and 2018. A member of the Madhya Pradesh Flying Club, she had experience operating several chartered flights alongside senior pilots.
Another crew member, Sahil Madan, also lost his life in the accident. He was reportedly serving as a flight attendant. The aircraft took off from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal at 8:10 PM and disappeared from radar around 8:45 PM. Reports indicate that the plane was circling near Baramati Airport during landing attempts. Local residents stated that they heard a loud noise followed by flames after the crash.
