The organ trafficking case based in Kerala has brought out shocking facts during the investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The agency found that the gang was illegally sending people not only to Iran but also to Tajikistan. As per the investigation, two people from Odisha were sent to Tajikistan this year for illegal organ donation. These details were mentioned in an affidavit filed by the NIA while seeking custody of the main accused, Madhu Jayakumar.
The crime came to light on May 18, 2024, when immigration officials stopped a man named Sabit at Kochi airport. Officials confirmed that the accused were cheating innocent people, luring them with false promises and sending them abroad for illegal organ transplants. The NIA is now conducting a deeper probe to trace links in other states and identify more key members involved in this international racket.
