Israeli forces on Tuesday carried out a deadly operation in the northern West Bank, killing three Palestinian militants who, according to Israeli officials, were planning an imminent attack. The confrontation took place near Jenin, a region long known as a stronghold for militant activity. Authorities said the men were shot as they emerged from a cave, which was later destroyed in an airstrike conducted by the Israeli military. While Israel described the raid as a preemptive counterterrorism strike, human rights organizations have criticized the ongoing operations, saying they have caused civilian displacement and casualties across the region.
Since the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack, Israel has intensified its military campaigns in the West Bank, claiming to target militant networks. However, Palestinian groups argue that the operations have increasingly affected non-combatants, deepening the humanitarian toll of the conflict.
