Amid growing international attention, nuclear talks between Iran and the United States are set to begin in Oman. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that US President Donald Trump has made it clear that he would not hesitate to resort to the use of force if the talks fail. Speaking to the media on Thursday (US time), Leavitt said that while President Trump is hopeful of reaching an agreement with Iran during the Oman talks, the United States will not compromise on its demand for a nuclear-free Iran. She cautioned that if diplomatic efforts do not succeed, the President has other options at his disposal.
In this context, Leavitt revealed that President Trump has issued strong warnings to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Meanwhile, Iranian media reported that the Revolutionary Guards have deployed long-range Khorramshahr-4 missiles at underground facilities. On the other hand, the United States has already positioned aircraft carriers, warships, surveillance aircraft and additional troops in the region. President Trump has also expressed anger over the deaths of thousands of protesters during anti-government demonstrations in Iran, warning Tehran that the US would intervene if harm continues to be inflicted on protesters.
Against this backdrop of escalating tensions, both countries have agreed to resume nuclear talks. The discussions scheduled to take place in Oman on Friday are expected to cover not only nuclear-related issues but also several other key matters, as Iran reportedly seeks broader consultations during the dialogue.
