Speaking at the Medaram Mahotsavam, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that Medaram has created history by hosting a Cabinet meeting outside Hyderabad for the first time. He described the Medaram Jathara as a living symbol where courage transformed into divinity, honoring Sammakka and Saralamma, who are worshipped wholeheartedly even without a temple. He recalled that the brave women Sammakka and Saralamma stood up against the Kakatiya rulers, and termed Medaram Jathara as the “Kumbh Mela of the South.” The Chief Minister also noted that he began his padayatra from Medaram on February 6, 2023, against anti-people governance, and with the blessings of the tribal mothers, a people’s government came to power in the state.
Calling the development of Medaram a rare privilege, CM Revanth Reddy said he had directed officials to develop the sacred premises with stone structures within 100 days, and that all works were completed before the Jathara. He stated that he would always take pride in developing the Sammakka–Saralamma shrine for the tribal communities. He added that the vow he made at Medaram on February 6, 2023, has now been fulfilled. The government will ensure a continuous flow of water in the Jampanna Vagu by diverting water from Ramappa and Laknavaram. He announced that the Sammakka–Saralamma temple will be inaugurated and dedicated to devotees tomorrow morning, and assured that the Medaram Jathara will be conducted on a grand scale, on par with the Kumbh Mela.
