A group of six youths allegedly under the influence of ganja and alcohol created havoc in Tirupati late Thursday night. The incident took place in Singalagunta, where the gang vandalized six parked cars and damaged the windows and doors of the nearby electricity substation office in Kanakabhushana Layout.
Following a complaint by substation operator Revanth Kumar, Alipiri police registered a case. According to police, the accused include Intermediate and 10th-class students from Chennareddy Colony — identified as Praveen, Vignesh, Venu, and others. They were reportedly taking revenge after a previous quarrel with another group.
Despite warnings from locals, the youths went on a rampage under the influence of ganja and liquor, smashing bottles and vehicles. Acting on a Dial-112 alert, DSP Bhaktavatsalam directed police teams led by SIs Lokesh Babu and Ajith to the spot. Two accused have been taken into custody, while a search is on for the remaining members.
