The Health Department has announced that bird flu has spread to 14 districts in the state of Tamil Nadu. Several crows were found dead in Adyar starting from January 5. Samples collected from the dead birds were tested by the National Veterinary Research Institute, which confirmed that the deaths were caused by bird flu.
Following this, officials reported that crows have been dying due to bird flu in 14 districts, including Chennai, Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai and Cuddalore. Similar cases have also been reported in the Puducherry region.
However, the Health Department clarified that the disease has not spread to other birds or humans so far. Even so, people are advised to stay alert. Officials also requested that anyone with fever or illness symptoms should visit a hospital immediately and get tested.
