The Trinamool Congress's struggle against the Special Summary Revision (SER) of voter lists in West Bengal has now reached Delhi. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who had come to Delhi after securing an appointment with the Chief Election Commissioner to discuss this issue, had a heated disagreement with the Election Commission. On Monday evening, Mamata expressed her dissatisfaction during a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and abruptly left the meeting. Later, speaking to the media, she alleged that the EC had acted arrogantly and insulted her representatives. She criticized the Election Commission for not paying attention even after lives were lost due to the SER process.
At the same time, Mamata Banerjee expressed anger over the heavy police deployment at Banga Bhavan in Delhi. She argued with the Delhi police present there, stating that the SER victims from West Bengal were staying at Banga Bhavan and that it was wrong to create obstacles for them. On the other hand, the Election Commission of India refuted Mamata Banerjee's allegations. The EC clarified that Mamata angrily left the meeting while they were still responding to the TMC representatives. This issue appears poised to escalate further politically.
