The Andhra Pradesh government is preparing to announce a fresh DSC (District Selection Committee) notification for teacher recruitment, in line with Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh’s recent assurance that DSC exams will be conducted every year. Officials are planning to release the notification during the Ugadi festival. The School Education Department has already collected vacancy details from field-level offices, and the total number of posts is expected to reach around 3,600. Preliminary data indicates about 1,200 vacancies from model schools, AP Residential Educational Institutions, and welfare department schools, while nearly 1,700 posts are likely in Panchayat Raj, municipal, and government schools. Additionally, around 700 special education teacher posts may also be filled.
The government has decided not to make any changes to the DSC syllabus, continuing with last year’s guidelines and examination pattern. Although proposals were initially considered to introduce English proficiency and computer proficiency tests for all posts, the plan has been postponed due to time constraints. Meanwhile, nearly 2,600 special education teachers are currently working on a contract basis across the state. As per Supreme Court directions, about 800 eligible teachers with required qualifications and ten years of service will be granted minimum time-scale benefits. However, they must still appear for DSC to secure permanent positions, and officials are considering granting weightage to contract teachers in the special DSC recruitment.
