Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has witnessed an unexpected change as Amar Nath of Galaxy Cricket Club has been appointed as the new president. The appointment was formalized through landmark orders issued by Ombudsman Justice Suresh Kumar Kaith. Former HCA president Jaganmohan Rao was removed over allegations of malpractice in the 2023 elections. Investigations confirmed that he contested using forged documents, prompting the decisive intervention.
Amar Nath, a former senior officer in the Central Excise Department and one of the most senior members of HCA, narrowly lost the 2023 elections by a single vote, securing 62 votes against Jaganmohan Rao’s 63. Following the Ombudsman’s directives, he is to assume office within seven days and will serve the remaining nine months of the term. Amar Nath stated, “This is a victory for justice. I will restore HCA’s former glory and prioritize cricket development across districts.”
