With daytime temperatures gradually rising in the city, summer power demand has begun, and all necessary steps are being taken to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, said TSSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Musharraf Farooqi. Speaking at the TSSPDCL headquarters in Khairatabad on Monday, he said officials have been instructed to continuously monitor the load on 33 kV and 11 kV feeders. He emphasized that the load should not exceed 300 amps on 33 kV feeders and 150 amps on 11 kV feeders.
Farooqi added that field staff have been directed to start taking readings of distribution transformers using tongue testers. He said 95 percent of the works under the Summer Action Plan have been completed, and the remaining works will be finished by the 15th of this month. Power demand in Greater Hyderabad during April and May is expected to cross 5,000 MW, he noted. To manage the additional load, over 20 substations have been equipped with 16 MVA power transformers for the first time, and an additional 1,888 distribution transformers have been installed across Greater Hyderabad to meet peak summer requirements.
