The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas and directed by Maruthi, opened to a mixed box-office response on Day 1. According to Sacnilk, the film collected ₹54.15 crore worldwide on its opening day, including ₹45 crore nett in India across languages and ₹9.15 crore from paid premieres. While the opening is the weakest for a Prabhas film in the post-pandemic era, it still managed to surpass the first-day numbers of recent films like Dhurandhar. The film connected well with Prabhas’ strong fan base, especially in Telugu-speaking regions.
However, industry observers point out that delayed government approval on ticket pricing in Telangana and poorly timed late-night premiere shows impacted collections. With shows starting close to midnight and running till early morning hours, audience engagement reportedly suffered, leading to faster spread of negative word-of-mouth. Additionally, premium ticket pricing—up to ₹1000 for paid premieres - proved counterproductive, particularly in Andhra Pradesh, where many centres failed to record housefulls despite government permission. Trade analysts believe that more reasonable pricing and better show scheduling could have resulted in stronger opening-day numbers.
