Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has created history by becoming the first-ever Kollywood film to cross the Rs. 800 crore mark worldwide, according to reports. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film has emerged as an industry hit in Tamil cinema. Adding another achievement to its box-office journey, the Kannada-dubbed version of Jailer 2 has reportedly become the highest-grossing Kannada-dubbed film ever, surpassing Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule. The Kannada version has collected around Rs. 9.5 crore gross so far and is expected to finish its run with more than Rs. 10 crore.
However, this record may not remain intact for long, as Ramayana is set to arrive in cinemas this Friday. With Yash’s presence and massive popularity in Karnataka, the film is expected to challenge Jailer 2’s Kannada-dubbed record soon after its release. The Kannada version of Ramayana has already reportedly collected Rs. 3 crore through advance bookings, with two more days remaining before its theatrical release. If the advance-booking momentum continues after release, Ramayana could surpass the record set by Jailer 2 within just two days.
