Kangana Ranaut has added another disappointment to her box office record. Her latest film 'Bharat Bhagya Vidhata', which was released amid high expectations, registered one of the lowest openings in recent times. The film collected only around ₹1 crore across India on its opening day, surprising trade analysts and industry observers.
The movie recorded just 11% occupancy in theatres nationwide, leading to criticism that Kangana's star power has once again failed to attract audiences. Directed by Manoj Tapadia, the film is based on the real life bravery of nurse Anjali Kulthe, who protected pregnant women and patients at Cama Hospital during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Despite a buy one get one free ticket offer and Kangana’s performance as an ordinary nurse, the film struggled at the box office, continuing the disappointing trend seen with her previous release Emergency.
