Prominent Tollywood producer Dil Raju has shared his views on the rising remuneration of star heroes and its impact on film budgets. Speaking in a recent podcast, he said he always explains the market dynamics to actors before signing a project and works only with those whose remuneration aligns with the film's budget. According to him, many top Tollywood stars are reluctant to reduce their fees because they fear it could affect their market image.
Dil Raju revealed that in a film with a budget of around ₹300 crore, nearly 35–40 percent of the total budget approximately ₹100–120 crore can be spent solely on the lead actor's remuneration. He suggested that Tollywood should adopt Bollywood's evolving profit-sharing model, where leading actors accept a share of the film's profits instead of demanding massive upfront payments. Citing Akshay Kumar as an example, he noted that the Bollywood star has shifted from a fixed remuneration model to profit sharing in response to changing market conditions.
