Earlier, there were reports that Deepika Padukone had been replaced in Spirit, Prabhas’ film directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The reason cited was her preference for limited working hours, following which Tripti Dimri was brought on board. Now, a similar situation has occurred with the Kalki 2898 AD sequel. Deepika, who played a crucial role in the first part, was initially expected to return. However, the makers recently confirmed that she would not be part of the next installment, mentioning “commitment issues.” After years of collaboration, both parties mutually decided to part ways.
Despite being replaced in two major projects, Deepika remained silent for a long time. Fans and media were eager to know her reaction. On Thursday, she finally addressed the matter in an interview. Speaking about her exit, Deepika said,
“I don’t want to name anyone or make this a controversy. But everyone knows that many male actors have been working eight-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, without working on weekends. Now, women and even new mothers have started doing the same — yet, that becomes a headline.”
She added that such situations aren’t new to her.
“I’ve faced challenges like these throughout my career. Even when it comes to pay, I’ve had to accept things as they come. I’ve always fought my battles quietly,” she said.
