With only two days left for release, Tamil star Vijay’s latest film Jana Nayagan is facing censor issues. The Madras High Court has directed the Central Board of Film Certification to explain why the censor certificate has not yet been issued. Directed by H. Vinoth, the film is scheduled for a Sankranti release on January 9. The production house, KVN Production, has almost completed all release arrangements.
The film was sent for censor review in December, during which the board reportedly asked for the removal of certain scenes and muting of a few dialogues. After making the suggested changes, the makers resubmitted the film, but no response has been received so far. As a result, KVN Production filed an urgent petition in the Madras High Court.
The censor board’s lawyers informed the court that a complaint had been received and that a new committee needs to review the film, for which more time is required. However, the producers lawyers argued that there is very little time left for release and that a new committee is not necessary. The judge directed the censor board to submit its response and adjourned the hearing to Wednesday.
