Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav said there is no need for panic despite the recent COVID-19 cases reported in Andhra Pradesh. He stated that the government is on alert and monitoring the situation closely. According to the minister, several reported deaths were associated with existing health conditions such as hypertension and hematological disorders. He added that genome sequencing is being carried out to identify the current COVID-19 variant circulating in the state.
The Andhra Pradesh Health Department reported 12 confirmed COVID-19 cases across four districts between June 26 and July 16. Four patients who tested positive died, but officials clarified that all had serious underlying medical conditions. Authorities have also identified five suspected cases, collected samples for testing, and advised people to follow basic preventive measures while assuring that there is no reason for unnecessary fear.
