Was Rancho Inspired by Sonam Wangchuk? Aamir Khan Breaks the Myth

Aamir Khan has put an end to one of Bollywood's most popular myths by clarifying that the Rancho character from 3 Idiots was not based on education reformer Sonam Wangchuk. The actor said that neither the makers nor the team knew about Wangchuk when the film was being made, and the similarities discussed over the years are purely coincidental.

Although he dismissed the long-standing speculation, Aamir Khan expressed deep admiration for Sonam Wangchuk's work in the fields of education and social development. He described Wangchuk as an inspiring personality whose contributions to society deserve appreciation, while reiterating that Rancho remains a fictional character with no direct connection to his life.
