72nd National Film Awards Celebrate Indian Cinema in Grand Ceremony

The 72nd National Film Awards ceremony was held in Gujarat in a significant departure from the traditional venue in New Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu presented the awards to several film personalities during the ceremony. Veteran Kannada actor Anant Nag was honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution to Indian cinema.

Mammootty and Kartik Aaryan jointly received the Best Actor award for their performances in Bramayugam and Chandu Champion, respectively. Article 370 won Best Film, while Yami Gautam received the Best Actress award for her performance in the film. Rajkumar Periasamy was honoured as Best Director for Amaran. Telugu cinema also featured prominently among the winners, with films including Kalki 2898 AD, Committee Kurrollu, 35 Chinna Katha Kaadu, Pushpa 2 and Lucky Baskhar receiving honours across different categories.
