Vinayaka Chavithi Puja Guide: Essential Rituals, Offerings and Traditions

Vinayaka Chavithi is celebrated with great devotion across India, especially in Telugu-speaking states. According to traditional beliefs, devotees should choose a left-trunked Ganesha idol, known as Vamamukha Ganapathi, for household worship. Homes are cleaned and decorated with rangoli, mango leaves and flowers before installing the idol in a specially prepared mandapam. The puja begins with Prana Pratishtha during an auspicious muhurtham, followed by sacred rituals including Ganapathi Archana, Patra Puja and the offering of various traditional naivedyams.

Devotees are advised to offer items such as modakams, kudumulu, undrallu, garelu, pulihora and other traditional foods. Reading the Vinayaka Chavithi Vratha Katha after the puja is considered important.
