The recent twin earthquakes in Venezuela have caused widespread devastation, leaving behind extensive loss of life and property. According to a preliminary assessment released by NASA, more than 58,000 buildings across the country have been damaged or destroyed. The estimate is based on satellite data collected on June 25 to rapidly assess the scale of destruction.
Authorities fear that thousands of people may still be trapped beneath the rubble of collapsed buildings. Rescue teams continue search and recovery operations, but hopes of finding more survivors are fading as time passes. Officials warn that the death toll and the extent of damage could rise as assessments continue.
