

On the occasion of the birth centenary of Smt. Nandamuri Basavatarakam, the Nandamuri family launched the Nandamuri Basavatarakam NTR Charitable Trust in Hyderabad. The trust was inaugurated with an Annadanam (free meal distribution) programme near Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital. Nandamuri Mohanakrishna was appointed Chairman, Nandamuri Mohana Roopa as Managing Trustee, while Nandamuri Seemanthini and Tummala Prasanna Kumar took charge as Trustees.
Speaking at the event, Chairman Nandamuri Mohanakrishna said Basavatarakam played a vital role in supporting legendary actor and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao while raising the family with dedication. He said the trust aims to honour her legacy by expanding welfare activities, including support for education, healthcare, scholarships, and assistance to the underprivileged across the state.
Managing Trustee Nandamuri Mohana Roopa said the trust would continue the humanitarian values of NTR and Basavatarakam through long-term service initiatives. Family members recalled Basavatarakam’s sacrifices and contributions to the Nandamuri family and expressed confidence that the trust would undertake several public welfare programmes in the coming years.
