

A. Revanth Reddy has urged Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to grant speedy approval for the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project. During a meeting held on Wednesday evening, the Chief Minister submitted a memorandum requesting the Centre to clear the Detailed Project Report (DPR) already submitted for the seven-corridor Phase-2 expansion project. Revanth Reddy explained that Hyderabad is rapidly expanding and requires urgent metro connectivity upgrades to meet growing transportation demands. He stated that the Telangana government had taken over the first phase project from L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited to ensure smoother execution of Metro Phases 2 and 3.
The proposed second phase includes the construction of seven metro corridors spanning 129 kilometers at an estimated cost of ₹38,595 crore. The Chief Minister requested the Centre to partner with the Telangana government in implementing the project jointly. He also highlighted the importance of Metro Phase-3, proposed from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to Bharat Future City corridor, keeping Hyderabad’s future urban needs in mind. Revanth Reddy informed the Union Minister that the DPR for Phase-3 had also been submitted to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and sought its consideration. Several senior officials, including HMRL Managing Director Sarfaraz Ahmed and government advisor NVS Reddy, attended the meeting.
