Power Bills See Sharp Drop

The Gruhajyothi scheme continues to provide free electricity benefits to eligible households across Telangana. Officials said that changes in weather conditions, particularly due to the El Niño effect, have led to lower electricity consumption, resulting in a noticeable decline in power bills for many beneficiaries.

According to officials, nearly four lakh consumers under the Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (NPDCL) recorded lower electricity bills in June. The total billed amount reportedly declined from ₹26.54 lakh to ₹22.59 lakh. The reduction is primarily attributed to cooler weather conditions, which lowered electricity usage across households.
