

Nehru Zoological Park has received the prestigious SKOCH Award for its successful implementation of the Mouse Deer Conservation Breeding and Reintroduction Programme. With this achievement, the Hyderabad-based zoo has become the first zoological park in India to receive the honour in the wildlife conservation category, earning national recognition for its efforts in protecting endangered species.
The award was presented at a ceremony held in New Delhi, where Nehru Zoological Park Curator Vasantha accepted the honour on behalf of the institution. She credited the achievement to the guidance of senior forest officials and the dedication of the zoo staff. Telangana Forest and Environment Minister Konda Surekha congratulated the entire team, describing the award as a proud moment for the state and a testament to Telangana’s commitment to wildlife conservation and biodiversity protection.
