Telangana Minister for Environment and Forests and Warangal East MLA Konda Surekha sparked a political controversy after her remarks on the BJP’s repeated use of the slogan “Jai Shri Ram” during the Mega Rythu Mela event held at Arts and Science College grounds in Hanamkonda on May 5. She criticized the BJP, stating that slogans alone do not bring development or central funds to the state.
Addressing the gathering, she questioned whether chanting “Jai Shri Ram” results in financial assistance or welfare schemes from the Centre, adding that such slogans do not benefit people on the ground. Her comments quickly went viral, drawing strong backlash from BJP leaders and supporters who accused her of hurting religious sentiments. Later, she clarified that her remarks were directed at the BJP’s governance and not at Lord Rama.
