Tuppudu Lakshmi, a woman from Gokafasalwad village in Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s Kodangal constituency, returned safely to India after being stranded in Muscat, Oman. Lakshmi had travelled abroad on February 27 in search of employment, hoping to support her family. However, she was allegedly assigned work different from what the agent had promised. Her employer reportedly confiscated her passport and refused to send her back. The agent who arranged her employment stopped responding to her calls and allegedly demanded ₹2 lakh to facilitate her return. With her Wi-Fi and SIM card disconnected, Lakshmi was left without any means of contacting her family. She eventually managed to reach her son Raju through a neighbour’s internet connection and explained her distressing situation.
Unable to bear his mother’s suffering, Raju approached BRS Working President KTR on September 29 and sought his help. KTR assured him that he would bring his mother back within a month. Keeping his promise, KTR intervened, wrote to the concerned officials and facilitated Lakshmi’s safe return to India. After reuniting with her family, Lakshmi met KTR at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad and expressed her heartfelt gratitude. Recalling the difficult time, she said KTR had given her son hope when the family had nowhere else to turn. “KTR Anna promised my son that he would bring me back within a month. He kept his word and brought me home. I can never forget what he has done for me and my family”, Lakshmi said.
