Heavy Rains Bring Relief to Andhra Pradesh.. Reservoirs Receive Fresh Inflows

Heavy rains caused by the severe depression have brought widespread rainfall across Andhra Pradesh, providing much-needed relief to water bodies and agricultural areas. Several reservoirs that had experienced low water levels are receiving fresh inflows. The Prakasam Barrage has also been receiving floodwater, which authorities are releasing downstream towards the sea. Reservoirs including Mudarsarlova, Gambhiram and Mehadrigedda have also recorded increased inflows.

The heavy rainfall has also caused localized damage across several districts. Srikakulam reported inundation of paddy and other crops, while fallen trees and damaged electricity poles disrupted normal life. Visakhapatnam recorded intense rainfall in Endada, along with landslides in some areas, prompting authorities to shift residents from low-lying locations to relief centres. Vizianagaram, Kakinada, Anakapalli, Eluru, Konaseema and West Godavari also witnessed heavy rainfall, waterlogging and crop losses. Despite the damage, the rainfall has reduced the state's rainfall deficit, with further rain expected in several areas.
