In a shocking case of cyber fraud, a government employee allegedly used Artificial Intelligence tools to manipulate a Public Service Commission recruitment process in an attempt to secure a government job. According to Rajasthan Police, Rahul Kumar Meena, a B.Tech graduate currently employed in a government position in Jharkhand, appeared for the Assistant Mining Engineer examination conducted in 2024. When the provisional selection list was released, he found himself ranked second in his category, with several candidates competing for a single post.
Determined to improve his chances of selection, Rahul allegedly used AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Grok, and DeepSeek to hack into the Public Service Commission’s online portal. Investigators said he removed the names of competing candidates from the selection list to eliminate competition. The fraud came to light when affected candidates received notifications regarding their removal and approached officials. A cybercrime investigation subsequently traced the breach to Rahul, who was arrested by authorities. During questioning, he reportedly admitted to regularly using AI tools to analyze and test website servers in his spare time.
