Polling for the Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) elections is underway across Andhra Pradesh. Voting began at 7 AM and will continue until 5 PM. Voters have been arriving at polling stations since early morning, with queues forming at several locations. A total of 21,012 candidates are contesting for 582 ZPTC and 7,767 MPTC seats across the state. As many as 2.61 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise at 31,460 polling stations. Following the withdrawal of nominations, 2,128 MPTC and ZPTC seats were declared unanimously elected. The contest is being held among 18,843 candidates for MPTC seats and 2,169 candidates for ZPTC seats.
Around 2,01,116 officials and personnel have been deployed to oversee the polling process across the state. The arrangements include returning officers, presiding officers, assistant presiding officers, zonal officers and micro-observers. However, heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions have disrupted the election schedule in parts of Eluru and East Godavari districts. The State Election Commission has postponed polling in five mandals and two additional polling stations in another mandal. Polling in Velerupadu, Buttayagudem, Jeelugumilli and Polavaram mandals of Eluru district, as well as Gopalapuram mandal in East Godavari district, has been rescheduled. Voting in these areas will take place on Friday instead of Thursday, while counting will be conducted on Saturday.
