Record in UPI Transactions

The total value of transactions made through UPI in the financial year 2025-26 crossed Rs. 314 lakh crore. UPI has become the leading platform for fast and simple digital payments across India.

Developed by the National Payments Corporation of India, UPI services were launched on August 11, 2016. In its first financial year, 2016-17, transactions worth only Rs. 0.07 lakh crore were recorded. Over the last decade, the transaction value has grown more than 4,000 times.

Similarly, transaction volumes rose from just 2 crore in 2016-17 to over 24,162 crore in 2025-26. Monthly transactions crossed the 2,000 crore mark for the first time in August last year, while December 2025 set an all-time record of 2,163 crore transactions. On average, around 60 crore transactions were made daily.
