Indian stock markets came under heavy selling pressure on Thursday, with the Sensex and Nifty declining sharply. The Sensex fell more than 1,150 points during the session, while the Nifty dropped over 350 points. Both indices touched three-month lows amid weak global cues and heightened investor concerns.
The sharp decline was driven by a combination of factors, including a rise in crude oil prices, higher US Treasury yields and renewed geopolitical uncertainty. Brent crude moved above $100 a barrel, raising concerns over India’s import bill and inflation. The rise in US bond yields and expectations of tighter monetary policy also weighed on investor sentiment.
