Microsoft is reportedly aiming to become a global leader in artificial intelligence by developing its own cutting-edge models by 2027. According to reports, the company’s AI division, led by Mustafa Suleyman, is focusing on building a self-sustaining ecosystem that handles everything from foundational AI model development to consumer-level applications in-house. This strategic shift comes after changes in its partnership dynamics with OpenAI, allowing Microsoft greater flexibility to innovate independently.
Initially, Microsoft relied heavily on OpenAI’s technology for products like Copilot, but now it plans to create state-of-the-art (SOTA) models capable of generating text, images, and audio with high efficiency. Despite facing strong competition from tech giants like Google and Meta, the company is determined to bridge the gap through advanced research and development. With internal restructuring and renewed focus, Microsoft is now pushing aggressively to establish itself as a frontrunner in the AI space.
