OpenAI has officially introduced its latest flagship artificial intelligence model family, GPT-5.6, along with ChatGPT Work, a new AI-powered productivity platform designed for professionals. The GPT-5.6 family includes three models—Sol, Terra, and Luna—offering different levels of performance, speed, and cost to meet diverse user needs. According to OpenAI, the new models deliver significant improvements in reasoning, coding, scientific problem-solving, and AI agent capabilities. The company also confirmed that GPT-5.6 is now the preferred model powering Microsoft 365 Copilot.
ChatGPT Work combines ChatGPT and OpenAI's coding assistant Codex into a single workspace, enabling users to write software, create reports, analyze data, build websites, prepare presentations, and automate workflows without switching between applications. The platform integrates with enterprise tools such as Slack, Gmail, Google Drive, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and CRM services. GPT-5.6 is being rolled out across ChatGPT, Codex, and the OpenAI API, with access varying by subscription plan. OpenAI said the launch reflects its vision of transforming ChatGPT from a conversational chatbot into a complete AI-powered productivity platform.
