The Bharatiya Janata Party achieved major victories in the recent Rajya Sabha elections. In Bihar, the party won all five Rajya Sabha seats that went to polls. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was elected to the Rajya Sabha and BJP national president Nitin Nabin also secured a seat.
In Odisha, BJP candidates also performed strongly by winning three Rajya Sabha seats. The election results were influenced by the actions of several MLAs. In Odisha, three Congress MLAs and three Biju Janata Dal MLAs voted in favor of the BJP candidates.
In Bihar, the Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate, who had support from AIMIM, lost the election. The absence of three Congress MLAs and one RJD MLA during voting also worked in favor of the BJP. These developments helped the BJP strengthen its position in the Rajya Sabha elections in both Bihar and Odisha.
