Thalapathy Vijay’s much-awaited film Jana Nayagan is facing continuous hurdles even before its release. The movie, directed by H. Vinoth, got delayed due to censor issues and controversy over sensitive scenes. Adding to the trouble, several clips and later the full movie were reportedly leaked online, creating panic among the makers. With no official clarity on the release date, the film’s buzz has gradually started fading, affecting both theatrical and non-theatrical business deals.
Reports now suggest that Amazon Prime, which allegedly acquired the OTT rights for a huge amount, is planning to step away from the deal due to the delay and falling hype. Meanwhile, Zee5 is said to have offered a much lower amount for the digital rights. If the new agreement happens, the producers may reportedly face a massive financial loss in OTT business alone. Industry circles are now closely watching the makers’ next move regarding the film’s release and streaming deal.
