SIT's explanation regarding Harish Rao's questioning..

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) stated that as part of the investigation into the illegal phone tapping case, Crime Number 243/2024, registered at Panjagutta Police Station, Siddipet MLA and former minister Harish Rao was questioned by the SIT at Jubilee Hills Police Station on January 20, 2026. The SIT revealed that considering Harish Rao's request due to his son's scheduled flight that evening, the questioning was concluded for the day, and he was allowed to leave. The SIT stated that clear instructions were given to him not to contact or influence any witnesses or interfere in any way with the case. They also informed him that he would be called for further questioning if necessary.

The SIT clarified that this questioning was strictly limited to the phone tapping case and that the investigation is ongoing regarding the allegations of unauthorized and illegal tapping and surveillance of the phones of politicians and businessmen. They stated that a comprehensive investigation has been underway in this case since March 10, 2024, and that charge sheets have already been filed against some of the accused. Hyderabad CP VC Sajjanar urged the public not to believe the false propaganda that Harish Rao is being questioned despite orders from the Honorable Supreme Court, and to refrain from spreading misinformation.
