Farmers’ unions have called for a nationwide Bharat Bandh on February 12 in protest against the trade agreement between India and the United States. According to farmer leaders, the deal is likely to cause severe losses to Indian farmers and dairy farmers, triggering widespread concern across the agricultural sector. They have issued a nationwide alert, urging people to be prepared for disruptions.
The call for the bandh has been jointly given by organisations such as the All India Kisan Sabha and the Samyukta Kisan Morcha. As part of the protest, large-scale demonstrations are planned across the country on February 12. Farmer bodies have appealed to farmers, workers, and allied groups in all states to participate actively and make the bandh a success, highlighting their opposition to policies they believe threaten domestic agriculture.
