As the Sankranti festival concluded, roads across Andhra Pradesh experienced heavy traffic due to people slowly beginning their return journeys. Recognizing the congestion, police implemented traffic control measures and diverted vehicles through alternative routes. Vehicles traveling from Guntur to Hyderabad were rerouted via Miryalaguda and Kondamallepalli, while those coming from Nalgonda were redirected through Munugode and Narayanapur.
Heavy vehicles from Vijayawada heading to Hyderabad were diverted via Kodad, Huzurnagar, Miryalaguda, Chintapalli and Mall routes. At Chityal Peddakaparthi, ongoing flyover construction caused additional congestion on the two-lane roads. Police managed traffic by rerouting vehicles through Ramannapeta, Valigonda and Bhuvanagiri routes, gradually easing the jams.
According to police estimates, record numbers of devotees and festival-goers traveled to Andhra Pradesh this Sankranti. A significant influx of people also came from Telangana to watch the cockfights. Authorities are closely monitoring traffic conditions and have advised travelers to exercise caution during their journeys.
