Siddhu Jonnalagadda began his journey in cinema by playing regular, boy-next-door characters. However, his career took a remarkable turn after DJ Tillu. The film not only gave him a unique identity but also earned him a massive fan following. Yet, the impact of Tillu was so strong that audiences found it hard to see him outside that character — something that reflected again in his last film, Jack.
Despite putting in sincere effort, Siddhu couldn’t quite convince the audience that he had moved on from the Tillu image. But Telusu Kada now seems to be the right opportunity for him to break free from that shadow. The film presents Siddhu once again as a relatable young man, but this time with more depth and radical thought — a refreshing change that his career needs right now.
After taking Tillu mania to another level with Tillu Square and even reminding fans of it with his cameo in Mister Bachchan, Siddhu’s image remained closely tied to that energetic character. Even in Jack, though he played a romantic lover boy, traces of Tillu could still be seen — and audiences couldn’t unsee it either.
But judging by the trailer of Telusu Kada, Siddhu appears to have completely shed that persona. The film explores bold romantic themes and delves into human emotions, portraying him in a far more grounded and radical role rather than as a fun-loving entertainer.
After the setback of his last release — where he reportedly faced criticism for his high paycheck and financial strain following its failure — Siddhu has much at stake. Telusu Kada needs to achieve two important things for him: first, to prove that Siddhu’s market remains strong despite one failure; and second, to finally help the audience see Siddhu beyond Tillu, opening doors for more diverse and engaging performances in the future.
