Nag Ashwin’s Emotional Response to ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ Winning National Awards

Director Nag Ashwin expressed happiness over Kalki 2898 AD receiving two honours at the 72nd National Film Awards. The film won the award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, while its production designer Nitin Zihani Choudhary received the Best Production Design award. Nag Ashwin said creating such a vast futuristic world was a major technical and logistical challenge, and he was happy that audiences connected with its world and characters.

Nag Ashwin also said the team worked to give Kalki 2898 AD a distinct visual identity instead of simply replicating an existing world. He added that creating new worlds rooted in Indian culture would continue to be a goal. This is not his first National Award recognition, as his 2018 film Mahanati had earlier won the Best Feature Film award.
