Mass Jathara, Ravi Teja's most recent movie, debuted to a startlingly low reception at the box office today. The opening show at Hyderabad’s Prasads Multiplex failed to sell out, leaving a large number of tickets still unsold. Since then, the situation has gotten worse, with many theaters reporting zero openings and the threat of show cancellations looming. The next day's advance reservations are equally disappointing, suggesting that there is no audience demand.
The overseas market, especially in the USA, has been terrible with very few bookings, while the domestic response has been lackluster. According to industry insiders, it's one of the worst openings for a Ravi Teja movie in a long time. Some contend that the film's poor performance stems from its dated trailer and unimpressive promotional hook, while others contend that its release date shortly after Baahubali: The Epic has impacted its box office performance because viewers are still enthralled with Rajamouli's lavish re-release.
Theater owners have also expressed their thoughts, saying that after the four-hour Baahubali experience, audiences are worn out and uninspired to see another movie so soon. Additionally, they pointed out that Mass Jathara's antiquated material doesn't suit the tastes of the audience today, which results in a lackluster reaction. The future of Mass Jathara appears bleak unless the movie generates a lot of positive buzz over the weekend.
