A new dispute has surfaced in Tollywood, as tensions escalate between producers and Telangana exhibitors over the percentage-based revenue system. Telangana exhibitors have firmly stated that films will only be screened under the percentage-sharing model, while Guild producers are insisting on adopting the rental system for film releases. The disagreement has created uncertainty within the industry, affecting release strategies and theatre allocations.
Amid this conflict, the newly released film “Jetly” was not screened in several key theatres controlled by prominent distributors like Dil Raju, along with Asian, Suresh, and Geetha distribution networks, including major multiplexes such as AMB and AAA. Guild producers have expressed concern, stating that this approach is unfair and could disrupt the smooth functioning of film distribution and exhibition in the region.
