

A tragic incident unfolded in California, United States, where two young women of Indian origin lost their lives after being swept away by powerful waves at a popular beach. The victims have been identified as Harshita Nair, 21, and Mahiyal Shraan, 20, both residents of Fremont and close friends. The incident occurred about a week ago at Bonny Doon Beach in Santa Cruz County, a location known for its scenic beauty as well as hazardous surf conditions.
According to local authorities, the two women were resting near the shoreline when a series of strong waves suddenly struck, dragging them into the ocean. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and launched an immediate operation before transporting the victims to nearby hospitals. Doctors declared Harshita dead upon arrival, while Mahiyal succumbed to her injuries three days later while undergoing treatment. Police have since released the identities of the victims and urged visitors to remain cautious at beaches known for dangerous wave activity.
