Tensions in West Asia have intensified after US President Donald Trump claimed on the social media platform Truth that the United States has kept a thousand missiles ready to strike Iran, with thousands more prepared to follow. His statement came shortly after US officials urged Iran to assure that it would not disrupt maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route, raising concerns over regional stability.
In response, Iran signaled defiance as Mojtaba Khamenei, son of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, vowed retaliation for his father’s alleged killing. Iranian state television broadcast his statement, emphasizing that Iran would not step back until justice is served for those who lost their lives in the conflict. The exchange of strong warnings from both sides has further heightened fears of escalation in the region.
