The Telangana government has issued key orders regarding the increase in cinema ticket prices for big-budget films. It has directed that 20% of the additional revenue generated through increased ticket prices be contributed towards welfare initiatives. The government has instructed producers to ensure that the provision is implemented strictly for recently released and upcoming major films.
Producers of films including Akhanda 2, The Raja Saab, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu and Peddi have been asked to collect the stipulated amount from exhibitors. The funds are to be deposited into the accounts of the Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation Welfare Association and the Telangana Film Development Corporation (TGFDC). The government has directed the concerned producers to take immediate steps to comply with the prescribed rules.
